Drought Tips
- Fertalise in the rain. Your neighbours may think your mad for doing it but its defiantly worth the hassle. A good soaking by the rain will work the nutrients into the soil more than watering.
- Try to forget your lawn for the time of the drought. A fully developed lawn will brown off during a drought but will recover quickly at the first signs of rain. Airating your lawn during drought will cause the soil to dry out faster causing your grass more harm than good.
- Look at what doesn’t have to be in pots and try to plant them in your garden. Pot plants use a lot more water as they loose the majority through evaporation. If you still want to use pots, why not try plastic or glazed pots to reduce the soil drying out.
- Remember to water large shrubs and mature trees. It may cost allot of money to replace mature shrubs and trees. Its easier to replace bulbs than a mature citrus or fruit tree.
